Magician Wade Whitcomb supposedly shipped himself from his home state of New York to Las Vegas via a UPS freight. He later admitted it was a hoax and he WAS NOT using a built-in webcam to show viewers him in the box. He rather filmed himself in the box in a single location. He could potentially be charged after the FBI and Transportation Security Administration investigated his stunt.
Why does this matter?
1. It makes us look bad as illusionists
2. His stunt was pointless
3. His image does not seem magical or original
Clearly, this sort of thing is what we should strive to get away from as Illusionists. There should always be magic in any stunt we perform. Our image should be magical and insightful. Finally, we should ALWAYS be honest to our viewers, even though the things we do are illusions. There is NO excuse to worry our authorities with untrue claims.
